Alma Mater: the monument "…e si redimono i campi" was composed of 2 parts: the mother with
her child and a man.
The man was installed in Rome just before the 2nd world war
broke out while the carving of the other part was almost over. Once it was ready,
it was loaded on to a wagon to Rome. Unfortunately, on its way to Rome, the war
broke out and this masterpiece in marble (nearly 6 meters high) was left in a
wagon till the end of the war.
Gino Nicoli took it back to the Nicoli Studios in
Carrara. Since then, the monument has been in the main workshop of the Nicoli
Studios and has never reached its half...
